The Aircraft?
Paramotoring is one of the simplest and cheapest forms of powered flight to date. The aircraft is piloted by being suspended under a special fabric wing in a similar configuration to a parachutist. Propulsion is provided by a lightweight engine and propeller which is worn on the pilots back like a rucksack ( We are also able to operate from light buggies and 3-wheeled trikes), with a flight endurance of three hours plus and with speeds between 20-50+mph. The wing and motor will fit in the boot of most cars, which makes travelling to flying locations hassle-free, convenient and low-cost compared to some other forms of aviation.
The School?
Two Rivers Paramotor Training (TRPT) operates and instructs all year round (weather permitting) to a proven method. Instruction is syllabus based and module-led, guiding the trainee through a progressive program, which includes ground school theory subjects and flying equipment
We operate within an active and social club “Two Rivers Paramotor Club’ . This prepares and integrates the trainee into a proper airfield culture of airmanship and aviation disciplines on a field dedicated to the club’s exclusive use.
Fitness?
Although predominantly a foot-launched aircraft, little running is involved when correct techniques are applied as you are pushed into the air with managed footwork follow-through. You do need normal mobility and stamina to carry out training tasks. Any medical conditions are to be disclosed and discussed before training can commence.
Learning?
We use an ab-initio method open for twelve months (extended at schools discretion ie. Run of bad weather or unexpected illness). This completely removes the time pressure on learning and puts the focus firmly on quality development, allowing trainees to progress to a high standard of piloting and airmanship at their own pace.
The time to learn varies from person to person. Usually, the first flight is achieved around day five and fully signed off around day ten, although, in reality, this could be plus or minus a few days depending on ability and learning style.
